2nd Test: Joe Root's unbeaten ton helps England take crucial first innings lead against India on 3rd Day

In second Cricket Test, Joe Root's brilliant unbeaten 180 helped England to take a crucial lead of 27 runs in their first innings against India on the third day at Lord's Cricket ground in London. At stumps, England were all out at 391 in their first innings in reply to India's total of 364.

Earlier yesterday, resuming from their overnight score of 119 for three, hosts consolidated their position as Joe Root added 100 runs for the fourth wicket along with Jonny Bairstow. Mohammed Siraj picked up 4 wickets while Ishant Sharma took 3 wickets for India. Joe Root yesterday completed 9000 runs in Test cricket and also became the first captain from England who scored 5 centuries in the calendar year.

Earlier, KL Rahul's impressive 129 and Rohit Sharma's gutsy 83-knock helped India to score 364 runs in their first innings.
