Meghalaya reports 558 new COVID-19 cases, 21 deaths

21 COVID 19 related deaths with 558 fresh new cases were detected in the last 24 hours tallying the active cases to 4,539 in Meghalaya.

Directorate of Health Services informed that the total number of COVID 19 fatalities in the State have reached 1,009 so far. Out of the deaths reported; 12 are from East Khasi Hills district, two each from West Garo Hills, West Jaintia Hills and West Khasi Hills districts and one each from Ri Bhoi, South Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills districts. The State also reported 411 recoveries bringing the total recovered cases to 54,356.

East Khasi Hills district has recorded the highest COVID 19 related fatalities so far with 726 deaths followed by West Jaintia Hill district with 96 cases and West Garo Hills district with 51 deaths. Till date, the total number of people vaccinated have reached 9,66,679 which includes 8,17,228 first dose and 1,49,451 second dose.
