Tripura DM’s ‘unruly’ action: No suspension but rewarded with additional charges

The District Magistrate of West Tripura district Dr. Sailesh Kumar Yadav who has faced barrage of criticisms from different walks of life across the nation and abroad for being ‘unruly’ in a wedding hall is now rewarded with additional charges from government. In a video that has gone viral across the globe recently has visualised the IAS officer Dr. Yadav thrashing groom, priests and cops and being ‘unruly’ with the guests in the wedding night on April 27 when the COVID-19 night curfew was enforced.

The government in its notification on April 29 last has rewarded the DM Sailesh Kumar Yadav with additional charge of Chief Executive Officer of Agartala Smart City Mission Ltd. and the charges of Commissioner of Tripura Urban Development Authority (TUDA) and Chief Executive Officer of Tripura Jal Board and Mission Director, Agartala Smart City Ltd.

Soon after the incident of the DM being ‘Unruly’ against the wedding at two separate marriage hall has come to limelight, the ruling BJP party MLAs and other walks of life including the singing start of the country Sonu Nigam has demanded for the dismissal of the DM.

He was seen shoving the groom by the neck, arresting everyone present, including the bride and the groom’s family, slapping a priest and tearing up a written permission for the wedding he himself had signed. Over 30 people were arrested and released later.
