With the newly emerged TIPRA Motha in Tripura capturing the Tribal Areas & Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) defeating the ruling BJP and alliance partner IPFT in the recently held ADC poll, the elected members of the TIPRA Motha and INPT has taken oath on Monday as was scheduled earlier.

Purna Chandra Jamatia elected from Killa-Bagma constituency has taken his oath of office as the new Chief Executive Member (CEM). Meanwhile, veteran tribal leader Jagadish Debbarma has taken his oath of office as the Chairman of the TTAADC.

In a significant turnaround, TIPRA motha Chairman Pradyot Kishore Deb Burman did not become the Chief Executive Member of the eighth elected council of the TTAADC. Instead, he proposed the name of Purna Chandra Jamatia as the leaders of the house.

However, after the swearing in ceremonial function held today at the TTAADC council Bhawan, TIPRA Motha Chairman Pradyoty told media, "I am sure that both Purna Chandra and Jagadish will perform well because of their honesty and experience in public life; they will work for all sections of people regardless of identities.”

Meanwhile, the new CEM Purna Chanadra who also spoke to media said that in the discharge of his duties he will abide by and act upon the wishes of the 'Maharaja' or Pradyot Kishore. He said that the priority of the new council will be to improve the water conditions, health and education infrastructure in the hilly areas.
