ADC Poll: Unauthorized social media handler inside polling booths triggers question

At a time when the state went for polling to Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) on Tuesday, some unauthorized social media handler managed to enter into the polling booths to cover polling stories in some parts of the ADC areas. Not enlisted with the Tripura State Information & Cultural Affairs (ICA) those unauthorized social media handlers running stories in the name of media house were found today interviewing the voters getting inside into the polling booths.

This perhaps has triggered serious question among the role of the state election commission and the state ICA department as the handlers were issued passes to enter into the polling booths. While enquired about it this evening the state election commissioner M L Dey told Tripuratoday.com, “Though I am not aware of this but then I will look into the issue and enquire about it to take necessary action.”

Meanwhile, the sectary of Agartala Press Club, Pranab Sarkar expressed dissatisfaction over the issue and said, “This should not have happened if the unauthorized social media handlers are made eligible to issue with the passes for entering into the polling booths for covering news.”

However, most surprisingly the state ICA department has come to a limelight today as the concerned official of the department managed to issue the passes to those social media handler of the state who were neither enlisted with the department and nor they are authorized to cover polling stories entering into the polling booths while the voting was underway.
