Police nabs lady drug peddler from residence in Agartala

A woman drug peddler was arrested from her residence here at the capital town of Agartala in West Champamura area.The woman has been identified as Uma Malakar and 120 gms of brown sugar, 200 gms of brown sugar stuffed vials and around 1,000 empty vials, a mobile phone and Rs 1,84,000 in cash were recovered from her possession on Tuesday night.

In an ongoing drive against drug peddlers, the police gathered intelligence regarding supply of drugs from her residence.Police officer Ramesh Yadav said that efforts are on to seize the property of drug peddlers and drug kingpins so that their financial support could be also snapped after being arrested. “Number of names have come forward and soon more surprise raids will be conducted”, said Yadav.

Police earlier arrested Nahid Miah, a Bangladeshi national and recovered a passport, a huge quantity of drugs and cash from him. Miah is considered to be one of the biggest suppliers of drugs in Agartala city. However, police succeeded to trace Uma Malakar out after getting leads from the interrogation of Miah.
