The Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) – an ally to the ruling BJP government in Tripura which decided to contest the polls to TTAADC to be held on April 4 has announced candidate lists on Sunday. “The IPFT in its first phase has decided for 18 candidates of the 28 seats in ADC for the poll while the next candidate lists are to be announced at the earlies,” said IPDT state president N C Debbarma.

Announcing the candidate lists today here in a press conference he said, “This time the IPFT got to have all new faces for 18 of the 28 seats in ADC.” “Due to the shortage of time with the announcement of poll schedule and publication of the notification we were unable to decide candidates for all the 28 seats,” adding to this he said, “We shall soon announce the rest of the candidates.

” Meanwhile, interacting with the reporters the IPFT state general secretary Mevar Kumar Jamatia said, “There is no chance of withdrawing our candidate from any of the seats even if the BJP offers 50:50 seat sharing for the poll.” He also said, “Talks are still going on with the TIPRA Motha.” The IPFT earlier forged an alliance with the state’s royal scion Pradyot’s TIPRA Motha to quit back soon and decided upon to contest the poll alone.
