Tripura hosting 39th edition of Agartala book fair from Feb 26

Amid the global pandemic of COVID pandemic, the Noirtheastern states of Tripura to host the 39th edition of Agartala Book Fair commencing from February 26 here at Agartala Hapania International Fair ground in West Tripura district.

Ending a preparatory meeting here at Agartala Rabindra Bhawan on Monday the state Deputyt Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Verma told reporters, “Despite the ongoing global pandemic of COVID-19, the Tripura government is committed to promote and develop the book industry of the state.”

He said, “Due to this pandemic this year the Tripura government has decided to relief the participants or the publishers from registration fee and electricity bill. We are committed to maintain the tradition of this Agartala book Fair and work from developing and promoting the book industry of the state.”

 “Publishers from neighbouring country of Bangladesh and Kolkata state have shown interest to join this book fair commencing from February 26,” adding to this Dev Verma said, “The book fair this year is get underway abiding by the norms of COVID pandemic and health advisories.”

He said, “Wearing of face masks and keeping sanitizers in the book stalls are made mandatory in this edition of book fair. Moreover, we are also to increase the number of volunteers in the ground for smooth functioning of the book fair.”
