Violation of lockdown norms goes rampant – SP warns of stern action

As the violation of COVID-19 lockdown norms goes rampant across the capital town of Agartala especially in the state’s biggest wholesale market, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of West Tripura district Manik Das today warned of stern action against the violators. At a time when the number of COVID-19 case is surging in the state and government is putting utmost effort to bring a control over this pandemic, a major section of people of this state are hitting the streets violating the norms and guidelines amid the ongoing lockdown period in the state. 

On Thursday, the state’s biggest wholesale market – Maharajganj Bazar has witnessed a large gathering of general public amid the lockdown extended by government till August 4. This perhaps has given a very different picture today as was unexpected amid this strict enforcement of law. However following this while the has talked to SP West Manik Das this evening, he said, “We imposed fine on large section of violators in the market areas who are not abide by the norms of social distancing and mandatory wearing of face masks.”

“The bazaar committee at MG Bazar in Agartala is already been directed to keep a close vigil on any kind of violation of lockdown norms in their area and take necessary step towards restricting this,” he said. Meantime he said, “We have also been in constant checking of unauthorised movement of public transport and other vehicles in different parts of the state city. So far we have arrested many such violators who are found to have violated the norms of lockdown.”
