Assam COVID-19 tally surges to 16806; death toll jumps to 36

Assam has reported 735 new positive cases for COVID-19 in last 24 hours. With the new cases the state tally for the new virus has now surged to 16806. Out of the new cases 400 cases have been reported from Guwahati city alone. On the other hand, a 36-year-old man who had no history of comorbidities was died at Jorhat Medical College Hospital due to COVID-19 on Sunday taking the state death toll to 36.

Assam Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, the state had registered 735 fresh COVID-19 positive cases in last 24 hours and out of these 400 cases were detected in Guwahati alone.The COVID-19 situation in Guwahati is more worsened as the capital city of Assam has registered 4624 positive cases in last 9 days.

According to the Assam state Health department, 777 cases were detected in the city on July 4, 552 cases on July 5, 598 cases on July 6, 588 cases on July 7, 423 cases on July 8, 355 cases on July 9, 521 cases on July 10, 410 cases on July 11 and 400 cases on July 12. On the other hand, out of the total positive cases, 10894 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from the hospitals so far. Assam’s COVID-19 recovery rate has now climbed to 64.82 percent.
