Cargo ship from Halida to reach Tripiua on July 18, says CM

For the first time a cargo ship from West Bengal, Haldia to reach Tripura’s Sonamura accessing the River Gomati on July 18 via neighbouring Daudkandi in Bangladesh, said Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.

Deb on Friday while addressing the Launching programme of Mukhyamantri Swa-Nirbhar Yojana at Town Hall, Agartala has said, “The cargo ship shall depart from Hadlia on July 14 to ferry iron materials to Tripura.”

He said, “A floating jetty has been cnstructed for the first time in Tripura, that too amid COVID-19 lockdown. I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and MoS for Shipping Ministry for the initiative."

A floating jetty was constructed on the river Gomati in Tripura's Sipahijala district to operationalise a part of the Indo-Bangla waterway project.The jetty, which would connect Sonamura with Daudkandi of Bangladesh, was recently included in the list of Indo-Bangladesh Protocol (IBP) routes.
