2 separate train reaches Agartala with over 2400 starnded people

With over 2400 people on board two separate trains from Chennai and another from Bangalore has arrived here at Agartala rail station on Monday. The people were stranded in different parts of the country mostly in Chennai and Bangalore due to COVID-19 lockdown.Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ashim Saha told media, “As per the central guidelines all the passengers arrived here today at Agartala from other parts are undergoing COVID-19 tests prior they reach their respective house.”

He said, “Both the train has arrived here today with over 1200 passengers in the first train from Chennai to Agartala and another in and around 1200 passengers in the second train from Bangalore to Agartala.” He said, “The state administration has made all necessary arrangements to facilitate the passengers arriving here in Agartala with medical tests and others as per the guidelines of the central government.” Meantime, over 1900 migrant workers, stranded in Tripura due to COVID-19 lockdown, began their journey to Bihar in a Shramik Special train on Sunday. They boarded the train at Jirania, 17 km from here. The train will reach Bihar, Khagaria on Tuesday.
