COVID-19 Update: 11 Agartala passengers kept under close watch

A total of 11 passengers identified to have board the Kolkata-Imphal Air Asia flight are under brought under close watch after the 23 years old girl of Manipur boarded the same flight from London to Imphal is tested positive with COVID-19 disease. “All the 11 passengers landed at Agartala airport from the flight are identified,” said Tripura Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar.

Addressing a press conference this evening he informed, “Soon after identification of those passengers we have kept them under close watch and no symptoms have been found on them so far.” All the 11 passengers boarded the Air Asia flight on March 21 along with the Manipur girl to land at Agartala MBB airport.

“So far no positive cases have been found in Tripura,” adding to this the Chief Secretary said, “Series of precautionary measures are being undertaken by the state government to contain the possible outbreak of the COVID-19.”

He said, “Legal action shall be taken against the violators of Tripura state-wide lockdown which has began from Tuesday noon till March 31. Section-144 followed by curfew is also imposed across the state.”

“Inter-state bus and train services are kept on halt. Borders are already being sealed to restrict entry of any foreigners into the state or other parts of the country,” adding to this he said, “A strict prohibition has been imposed on public transportation ad movement during the lockdown period.” He however appealed to maintain social distancing at large.

However, it is to be mentioned here that Prime Minister Tuesday evening addressed the nation to announce all India lockdown over COVID-19 from Tuesday mid-night for 21 days as part of government’s stringent efforts to tackle coronavirus disease Covid-19.
