Deck readied for terminated 10, 323 teachers, Tripura govt. approves 12, 000 posts

The Tripura Left front government has readied the deck for the terminated 10, 323 teachers by creating and approving 12, 000 posts of non-teaching staffs under state education system. This perhaps has come up as summer relaxation for maximum section of teachers of the 10, 323 but has of course triggered serious question among the people of the state as all of a sudden maximum posts has been created under the state education department. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday evening at the civil secretariat the state education minister Tapan Chakroborty said, “The council of ministers in a cabinet meeting on Wednesday has approved the recruitment rules and creation and filling up of 12, 000 posts.”

The categories of the posts include Academic Counsellor (1200 posts) for Post Graduate, Student Counsellor (3400 posts0 for Graduate teachers, School Library Assistant (1500 posts) for Graduate, Hostel Warden (300 posts) for Graduate and School Assistant (5, 600 posts) for the Under Graduate teachers. Chakraborty clarified “The department would seek applications for conducting interview for filling the posts created today’s cabinet meeting.” Adding to this he said, “ While five years’ teaching experience is must for Academic Counsellor (1200), Student Counsellor (4300), School Library Assistant (1500) and Hostel Warden (300), three years’ of teaching experience is mandatory for School Assistant posts.”

“The salary for Academic Counseller will be Rs. 12000 (fixed) while Rs. 10,500 will be offered to Student Counsellor , School Library Assistant Hostel Warden and Rs. 8500 will be given to School Assistant”, Chakroborty said. Regarding the selection process of the aspirants, Chakraborty said there will be no walk in interview or written test but there will be formal interview for picking up right candidates. However, in the cabinet meeting held on May 12 the detailed recruitment rules for retaining the services of retrenched teachers as well as for recruitment of new teachers through TET were finalized whereas today the cabinet meeting 12, 000 posts have been created with sanction of the finance department. Later, while informing this to the media Chakroborty said, “The decision of creating and approving the posts has been taken in an aim to upgrade the quality education in the state.”
