US Prez Donald Trump to arrive in Ahmedabad today on two-day visit to India

US President Donald Trump will arrive in Ahmedabad today on a two-day visit to India. He will be accompanied by his wife Melania, daughter Ivanka, son-in-law Jared Kushner and top brass of his administration. In Ahmedabad, he will visit Sabarmati Ashram and take part in a roadshow with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.The two leaders will jointly address over one lakh people at the 'Namaste Trump' event at the Motera cricket stadium. A cultural extravaganza will be organised at the stadium during the Namaste Trump event. After the event in Ahmedabad, Mr Trump and his entourage will fly to Agra to visit Taj Mahal.

In Uttar Pradesh, Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will welcome the US president on his arrival at the Kheria Airport. Mr Trump and his family will spend about an hour at the Taj Mahal complex. In the evening, the US President will leave for Delhi for the main leg of the visit during which restricted and delegation-level talks between Mr Trump and Mr Modi will be held at Hyderabad House tomorrow.

In the morning, Mr Trump and the First Lady will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. From there, they will go to Rajghat to pay homage at the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi. It will be followed by talks between Mr Trump and Mr Modi at Hyderabad House. Prime Minister Modi will host a lunch for the US president following the talks.

In their talks, Mr Trump and Prime Minister Modi are likely to focus on a wide variety of bilateral and regional issues including trade and investment, defence and security, counter-terrorism, energy security and situation in the Indo-Pacific. Mr Trump is accompanied by a high-powered delegation comprising Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien and Energy Secretary Dan Broulliette. In the evening, Mr Trump will meet President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. A banquet will be hosted by Mr Kovind. President Trump will depart from India later that evening.
