Centre sanctions Rs 3 crore for “Sukanta Academy”

In an ambitious move, the central government has sanctioned Rs 3 crore to upgrade “Sukanta Academy” science, art and culture centre, a highly placed source in the department said today. The academy that formally started its journey from February 28, 1997 has many exhibits that are outdated with the span of time. It was last, renovated in the year 2017 with some extra exhibits. “The Centre has sanctioned a sum of Rs 3 crore for its development.

The building will be renovated. The exhibits, galleries and other important aspects of the academy will be revamped with the funds. Already, a plan has been taken up to commence construction works” the source said.On being asked on “the journey sun via mars” a significant part of Sukanta Academy, he said, proposals have been made to restart the project as it is very crucial for students to learn in details about the functions and components of the solar system.

If everything goes well with the plan this project may also see the light of the sun very soon, he added. Notably, there has been huge irregularity reported in case of this particular project. Since the planetarium like project was started, technical snags started getting reported. The company which was assigned to maintain the technical part had, reportedly, showed no interest to restore it citing problems in the construction of the building. Meanwhile, the source also told this reporter that a proposal had been forwarded to the ministry of culture seeking funds to install exhibits in the “Vigyan Gram” being constructed at Badarghat which is still awaiting a positive nod.
