Tripura to soon become waterways gateway to NE for ASEAN countries, says CM in Guwahati NE Youth Summit

The Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Tuesday addressing the 2nd ASEAN India Youth Summit 2019 at Guwahati said, "The Northeastern states of Tripura shall become a waterways gateway linking Bangladesh Chittaging port to North East for the ASEAN countries." The 2nd ASEAN India Youth Summit 2019 at Guwahati, chaired by Ram Madhav was inaugurated on Sunday last by the Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

"Once the waterways linking the Bangladesh Chittaging port comes up in Tripura in a year, it shall open door for young investors to explore and invest in the resource rich state, where 60 per cent area is still unexplored," adding to this Chief Minister urged upon the young representatives from the ASEAN region to explore investment opportunities in Tripura. Recounting the state's strength Mr. Deb said, "Tripura has surplus power with cheapest commercial units which perhaps can cater the need of investors in the state."

He continued saying that after Kerala, Tripura produced the highest quantity of quality rubber of about 80, 000 MT which would double in two years. He said Tripura also has high potential for gas production. Later in his address Mr. Deb pitched for single window system easing the trade. "I urge upon the young investors to avail this single window system for their trade in Tripura," he said.
