CPI-M in Tripura demands withdrawal of Citizenship Ammendment Bill – 2016

The opposition CPI-M party on Monday opposed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 and demanded the centre to withdraw the bill immediately prior getting the bill passed in the Rajya Sabha.Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, also the opposition leader today addressed the gathering in a protest rally in front of Agartala Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan

And said that the proposed bill has hurt the sentiments of a large section of people of the northeast. He also said that the BJP is trying to create unrest in the region to achieve its narrow political interests.On one hand, illegal migrants are being identified in the name of the

NRC exercise and on the other hand the government is trying to give citizenship to a religious group in the name of the citizenship bill,” he added.Saying the proposed bill is against the Constitutional premise of non-discrimination on basis of religion, Sarkar demanded that the government withdraw it immediately.
