Now coal from Russia & Indonesia in Tripura

Bangladeshi businesspersons had begun to export coal to Northeast India through the Akhaura Land Port after around six years of suspension. Due to the heavy demand of coal in Tripura and adjacent areas, Bangladeshi coal traders were importing coal from Russia and Indonesia on ships through the Ashuganj River Port and exporting them over the land route.

A total of 700 tonnes of coal had been exported in the last several days, said Akhaura Port customs official Shanti Baran Chakma.Akhaura Land Port Export-Import Association joint general  secretary and coal exporter Rajib Uddin Bhuiyan said, ‘Usually, it takes $80 to import each tonne of coal from Russia and Indonesia and it was being exported for around $110 per tonne.’Shoeb Trade International, Molla Trade International and Bayazid Trade International were among the leading exporters, he added.
