Biplab to join Modi in WB campaign

In the middle of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s 'Ganatatra Bachao Yatra (Save Democracy Yatra)' in West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a rally in December at Siliguri in north Bengal.Modi will hold the rally on December 16, West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh said on Wednesday.The Prime Minister is also expected to hold two more rallies in the course of the 40-day yatra, which will commence on December 7 in Cooch Behar, where BJP national president Amit Shah will be present.

The two likely venues of Modi's rest of the rallies are Durgapur and Krishnanagar. However, the venues are not yet confirmed, Ghosh said.Modi came to the state last on July 16. He held a rally in West Midnapur.However, the rally turned out to be slightly bitter for the saffron brigade after several people were injured when portion of a temporary pandal caved in. Later, Modi had met the victims who were admitted to a hospital.Shah will hold around six to  seven rallies in the state in December-January.

Along with Shah, BJP Chief Ministers- Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh, Biplab Deb of Tripura, Shivraj Singh Chouhan of Madhya Pradesh, Raman Singh of Chhattisgarh, Devendra Fadnavis of Maharashtra, Raghubar Das of Jharkhand- will also hold rallies.Two other yatras of the BJP will begin from Namkhana and Tarapith on December 9 and December 14 respectively.

The West Bengal government reportedly denied permission to the BJP, which has already moved the Calcutta High Court seeking its intervention into the matter, to hold the rally.Ghosh on Wednesday said the high court has asked the state administration to allow the BJP to organise the yatra and take necessary steps for it.Attacking Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government, the state president said: "There is no democracy in West Bengal. This government doesn't believe in democracy.
