Demands raise in Arunachal Pradesh to compile Assam like NRC

While a massive Supreme Court-monitored exercise for updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC) is going in Assam to detect the illegal foreigners who residing in Assam, several organisations in neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh have demanded that similar registers of citizens be complied in Arunachal Pradesh also.

The pressure groups of Arunachal Pradesh have demanded for an Assam like exercise to prevent the Tibetan refugees from availing the benefits of citizens. Several organisations of the China border state have opposed against implementation of the Centre’s Tibetan Rehabilitation Policy 2014, which would extend benefits to the refugees including jobs.The Students' United Movement of All Arunachal (SUMAA) has demanded that Assam like exercise be complied in Arunachal Pradesh also.

The student organisation alleged that, many refugees now availing benefits meant for scheduled tribes.Tagru Tame, president of Students' United Movement of All Arunachal said that, Assam like massive exercise also to be needed in Arunachal Pradesh.On the other hand, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) also demanded to compile NRC in Arunachal Pradesh and holding protest rallies in different parts of the state against implementation of the centre’s Tibetan Rehabilitation Policy 2014.
