Education and Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Monday directed the departmental units of the concerned department to instruct the District Education Officers (DEOs) for conducting surveillance visits to the schools under their jurisdiction and submit reports to the department at the earliest. Later on, minister himself will visit the schools that are reported to be malfunctioning.

“Altogether, there are 4385 schools across Tripura and it is quite difficult for the minister to visit all the schools. Hence, we have taken the initiative”, said Education minister Nath, while talking to the reporters.

Speaking about admission in various government degree colleges throughout the state, Education minister confirmed that the time for online admission process has been extended and positively everyone will be admitted very soon.

Education minister gave his contact number in whichever school he had visited in past couple of days and till yesterday, he received more than 7,000 calls from students, guardians and teachers as well as from outside the state and outside India also.

“A person from Kuwait, a driver by profession called minister requesting him to visit a specific school in Kailashahar as the education system was in dilapidated condition during his course of study”, minister told reporters.

Nath on Monday revisited two schools i.e. Umakanta Academy, Bengali Medium School and Maharani Tulsibati Girls’ HS School and found that the students are happy as the teachers are regular and punctual. Moreover, no class from Class VI to XII goes off for a week from today which was a regular instance till last week since 2014.

He further appreciated the attentiveness of Nandangar HS School as there is a fruitful change after minister’s visit. However, Nath issued a letter to local MLA and Minister Sudip Roy Barman requesting for drinking water facility in that school.

Apart from these, minister asserted that there have been huge financial irregularities since February 12 at Henry Derozio Academy regarding Mid-Day meal. Following which a show cause notice from the department had been dispersed for the head of the institute.
