Idealism is being eroded in our country. Political leaders who are running the show of our country are responsible for this. The leaders make big promises at the time of elections but after securing power, their actions are diametrically opposite to their commitments, former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

Sarkar was delivering the memorial lecture on – ‘Manifestation of Perferction: Idealism in Politics,’ at a book release function here today. The existing system is nothing less than treachery to the common people of the country and it has to be fought back, he said.

“To fight this system back, our upcoming generation has to be groomed in proper fashion. Idealism has to be inculcated in their minds, and it needs to start from home,” the veteran Leftist leader said. He exhorted teachers, parents and media to play an anchor role to groom the youth of the Nation.

Sarkar was here to attend the launch of Rajkishore Nayak’s biography book ‘Sayanhara Smruti’, authored by Nirmalprava Nayak. Other eminent persons present were eminent freedom fighter Bhabani Charan Pattnaik, columnist Gourahari Das and noted poet Sitakant Mohapatra.
