High commissioner and Bangla minister in Sabroom

High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh  Harsh Vardhan Shringla along with Bangladesh Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader visited Ramgarh, Khagrachari to inspect the progress of bridge construction over Feni river.The proposed bridge over Feni river is being funded by government of India under grant assistance to Bangladesh and is being constructed by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Authority of India (NHIDCL).The bridge, once completed, will provide direct road connectivity between south Tripura and Chittagong through Sabroom (India) – Ramgarh (Bangladesh) link, and will further promote trade, tourism and people-to-people ties between Tripura and Bangladesh and benefit the entire region.Test piling work on the Indian side has already commenced and the same is expected to commence on the Bangladesh side shortly. The bridge is expected to be completed by April 2020.A delegation led by Tripura Public Works Department (PWD) Secretary Shantanu and comprising senior officials from the NHIDCL and PWD department, state government of Tripura also visited the site of the Feni bridge along with Obaidul Quader and the Indian envoy.
