Along the sidelines of the standing committee meeting of inter state council Home Minister Rajnath Singh has raised the issue of scribes in Tripura. Highly placed sources in Delhi confirmed this to TRIPURATODAY . The matter was raised with Manik Sarkar by Mr Singh soon after the meeting ended.

Mr Sarkar seemed to be in a hurry and did not take the post meeting lunch, sources said. It may be mentioned here that in the aftermath of the recent murder of Syandan Patrika scribe Sudip Dutta Bhowmik Governor Tathagata Roy was called to Delhi. There he appraised the Home minister of the prevailing situation in the state.

Now that the Home minister has taken up the matter with Manik Sarkar it remains to be seen what steps are taken in the state to ensure security of the press personnel. Even yesterday Sambit Patra, national spokesperson of BJP while expressing concern over the killing of scribes in the state told the concerned associations to place representations to him so that he can forward it to union Home minister for appropriate action.
